I lived in Israel for a year when I was in college, and I was back for a visit about 10 years ago. I miss Israel terribly. So you can imagine my thrill upon finding Borekas Sephardic Pastries! This place is the real deal. Potato, mushroom, and spinach botekas. Flaky and delicious. The spinach is done with feta cheese. The potato is done with brown butter. Creamy and perfect. Nescafe. Sliced hard boiled eggs and pickles. I feel like I'm back on Ben Yehuda Street in downtown Jerusalem.

The same delicious savory pastries as the other location, without the stress of finding parking or getting into the small parking lot! Came by on a Sunday morning to pick up these delicious goodies on my way to watch some football at a friend's house in the valley. I was originally going to hit up their first location, but saw this pop up. So glad I made the choice to come here! Service is pretty much the same. Friendly people you order from at the window and wait for your goods. Everything is neatly packaged and well presented. I got three different flavors, which all came with some boiled egg, plenty of pickles, and some schug (sauce). I got one of each - cheese/spinach, cheese/zaatar, and potato/brown butter. They cut them up so it's highly shareable. Same quality as the other place in my opinion - buttery and flakey with delicious flavors. This spot just feels infinitely more chill than the original location. So if timing/ distance is not a factor, I would opt to come here because the experience is so much easier including the parking. Although getting these goodies from either location is alright by me, haha.

BOREKAS! Conveniently located near all the car dealerships and a Carwash. So fresh and delicious ordered one of each for the family and a jar of pickles and a Turkish coffee. Truly delicious if you know what a good Boreka is.

Found this spot on Instagram. This unique Middle Eastern breakfast spot in the SF Valley truly lives up to the hype. The ambiance is cozy and vibrant, with beautiful decor that instantly transports you to the Mediterranean. The flavors were authentic, rich, and well-balanced--definitely a step above your typical breakfast. They also have a variety of traditional teas and fresh juices that pair perfectly with the meal. The staff was warm and welcoming, and you can tell they're passionate about the food they're serving. If you're looking for something different from your standard brunch, I highly recommend

The best spot in LA for borekas. So happy they opened a larger location! My favorite is the spinach and cheese but you have to try all of them! Love how crispy and buttery they are!

My new addiction! I believe this is the new and second location of Borekas. I have been to both locations and both deliver the same savory flavor. My top two are the original cheese za'atar and the cheese with spinach. The savory pastries pair really well with the hot sauce and the pickles add a juicy crunch. All 4 flavors are buttery and tasty and I appreciate the small menu/selection. They also offer drinks like coffee and teas, I prefer to pair them with coffee. They even sell the tomato sauce, hot sauce and pickles on the side. I am obsessed with the hot sauce! Service is pretty fast, however, I would recommend to order and call in ahead on weekdays because it gets packed!

I love that they opened up a 2nd location in Van Nuys. This place feels less congested to access than the Sherman Oaks location that is crammed into an already tightly fit space in a very busy strip mall. I ordered for pick up in advance and ordered one of each savory to go for my family visiting from out of town. Then I ordered 3x of their other popular savory dishes for my hubby and I. When I called they ask what time you'd like to pick up and you have to prepay over the phone when making the order. I was able to easily pull up and park on Van Nuys Boulevard and the whole transaction took less then 5 minutes since there was no line at this time. The food is immaculate. Savory pastries made to heavily perfection. If you haven't tried them this is a must try kind of place.

Located in what used to be the old Four N Twenty diner, Borekas is a nice, new addition to Auto Row. Happy for the company that they've added an another location, the other being on Ventura Blvd. And like the Ventura Blvd location, this new spot is walk up service only. But here, you can order from the window and have the option to take your food to go, or to sit on their patio - a feature the Ventura location doesn't really have. We ordered the Spinach & Cheese, and Potato & Brown Butter savory pastries. It took around 10-15 mins to get our orders. Both were very good, but the potato was our favorite. Both of our pastries came with pickles, boiled eggs, tomato pulp (literally just blended tomato), and a spicy sauce called schug (very tasty). If you're wanting these pastries but want to avoid the chaos of the Ventura location, come support this secondary location and get some tasty food! Limited street parking in front, as well as in the small parking lot behind the shop.

Really glad to see the business expand to a second location! We're big fans of these Borekas! The pastry is always perfect and there really is no "bad" option for filling. Great way to start the day off plus it's very reasonably priced. If I had to choose, I'd say the potato option is my favorite, but it's a tough choice. Added bonus with the new location -- outdoor seating!

So excited to finally try Borekas! Ever since my friend showed me a photo of her food, this has been on my list to try! The original place is in Sherman oaks, but this just opened up in Van Nuys. I believe a third location is on its way. The menu is fairly simple with more beverage options than food. But I love their simplicity. They have perfected the best Borekas and best jammy eggs! You need to wait a little bit for your food to be prepped, but it's well worth it. They offer single serving box or a family style box too. Their most popular is the potato and brown butter, but I went ahead and ordered three types: the cultured cheese and za'atar, potato and brown butter, and fungi and onion and truffle. I tried all three and loved them. I think if you love cheese, you'll love the cheese and za'atar! But honestly you can't go wrong with any of them. The fresh tomato puree is a perfect pair without overpowering the flavor. The pickles complements the flavor as well. So happy I finally got to try this and hopefully they will open more closer to LA.
